Time clause

While I was reading the newspaper, I feel asleep. (full form)
= Reading the newspaper, I feel asleep. (reduce form)
or While reading the newspaper, I feel asleep.

When I put my hand into my pocket, I realised that all my money had been stolen.
= Putting my hand into my pocket, I realised that all my money had been stolen.

Conditional clause

I will accept the job if I am offered it.
= I will accept the job if offered.

Reason clause

I went to bed early yesterday as I was tired. (full form)
Being tired, I went to bed early yestreday. (reduced form)

Contrast clause

Altough he was warned not to smoke any longer, he went on smoking.
Altough warned not to smoke any longer, he went on smoking.

Exercise 1.  Rewrite the sentences, reducing the adverbial clauses.
